Glad to hear that! I think if you are pitching a mainstream (not a literary magazine) having a good subject line for the email is probably the most helpful. Ideally it's a potential title for the piece or something that gets at what the crux of the piece is about to hopefully catch the editor's attention. I usually try to spend some time reading titles of pieces in the publication I'm pitching and then write a title in a similar style for whatever I'm pitching.
The other thing is following up if you don't hear back. I think editors just have overflowing inboxes so sending a polite check in come sometimes help get something read too.
