Day 4: Three Prompts to Choose From
Janine Annett with a choose-your-own-adventure of funny line prompts
Today’s prompt comes from humor writer, author, and Substacker. Who overachieves by writing 3 different Substacks.
Janine is offering a choose-your-own-adventure with three different prompts (or you overachievers can use these to write three different funny lines):
Write a sentence about something you are NOT good at because writing about something you’re good at just isn’t funny.
OR
Write a sentence about doing something (dancing or otherwise) like no one’s watching.
OR
Write a sentence about the day job you’ve been forced to take while you pursue your dreams (this doesn’t have to be based in reality - the sillier, the better!)
Janine Annett is the author of the humor book I Am “Why Do I Need Venmo?” Years Old. Her writing has been featured in McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The New Yorker, The New York Times, and many other places. She has taught humor writing for the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, Gotham Writers, Thurber House, and the Hudson Valley Writers Center.
If you want to comment for accountability when you get your line done, you can jump into the chat.
my attempt to combine two of the prompts: I kill plants like no one’s watching
I don’t dance; I gesticulate.
