Julie, I love your Tweet! Rich wanted to watch Oppenheimer the other night but knew 48 hours would never be enough time. We have a Schrute Beet Farms t-shirt around here somewhere. Maybe I'll wear it to Erma! Can't wait to see you there!
oh, you should wear it to Erma! I have Dunder Mifflin holiday t-shirt that I could also wear but may be a bit out of season, ha! And my husband and I have not managed to attempt Oppenheimer yet for the same reason.
I’m going to try to watch at least some of the journalism conference live this week. Thanks for the heads up! I went another year and found it helpful.
Yes, same! I caught part of the first session (broken up by a school drop off!). Going to try to attend some of them live today but will likely need to watch a lot on replay.
Of course -- thanks for having me and hope you like Heating and Cooling.
I have been before and it is one of my favorite conferences. I think it's one of the few (if not the only one?) focused on humor writing and it is a smaller conference than some so feels less overwhelming. Definitely worth keeping on your radar for the future. They run it every 2 years.
Both! They have a bunch of sessions that I always get something useful from and I've also met a lot of writers there (some I had known online previously, some not). Their keynotes are often great too -- they've had well known writers and others in the humor industry (like an SNL alum last year). They provide all the meals and it's all in one location so it feels easier to talk with other attendees than some other conferences. The list of sessions is here to give you an idea: https://udayton.edu/artssciences/initiatives/erma/workshop/sessions.php

You've inspired me to go look for it! Yes, a 90-minute movie is our sweet spot, and even then it make take us two nights : )
I also read Heating & Cooling, and I love the idea. In fact, I started to write micro-essays and there's here somewhere on the hard drive... hmmm.
Also, yes to the Great British Bake Off! I LOVE that show. I'm off to check out your interview now...
It’s a great book! I feel like micro essays are having a bit of a moment but maybe that’s just because I’ve been into them!
Oh my gosh I forgot about Heating and Cooling. Great example of micro essays.
Yes!

I'm so glad that Fox Trot hit the spot!
It has!
I was also late to the Game Night party but totally worth the wait! Loved it! Another good, not-new movie like that is Neighbors.
Ooh, I don't think I know that one either. I am going to check it out!
Great round up. Just bought Heating and Cooling.
Thx for participating in the Funny AF Women interview.
Have you been to the Irma conference before? Curious about it.
Of course -- thanks for having me and hope you like Heating and Cooling.

What do you do at EB conference? Network? Lectures?

Looks wonderful! Thx for link!
I'll be at Erma! See you again in a couple months, haha. 😎
Oh, good! I look forward to getting a chance to talk to you more there :)
Love this! And I've now added a Hero Post to my list of goals for the week...what a fantastic idea!
Thank you and I think it is really smart to have one!
